Harvest Festival confirms more acts

Emilie Autumn and Die Roten Punkte are among the final artists added to next month’s Harvest Festival. Autumn leaked the news of her place on the lineup last month and now she has been officially confirmed as part of the Bootleg Alley line-up. She’ll be flashing her glam-rock burlesque at the festival’s alternative performance hub Le Boudior, alongside New York Superdiva Our Lady J and neo-cabaret superstars The Wau Wau Sisters.

Die Roten Punke will head up Vaudevillage, a “Molotov cocktail of theatre, comedy and spoken word” also featuring Virginia Gray and a variety of different genre defying performers in each city.

Other non-mainstage highlights include The Snuff Box, described as “part jaw-dropping art installation, part subversive performance space, part hush-hush goodtime speakeasy”; Blissful “alternative area” The Secret Garden, which will play host to some very special funk, soul and reggae DJs ; And The Campfire Stage which will house spoken word institutions such as Woman of Letters and the Little Dum Dum Club.

In total there will be 50 visual, live art, virtual and performance installations across the three festivals with different performers and bands slated across the alt-stages in each city. For a full breakdown of all the performers head here.

Harvest festival dates:
Saturday 12th November – Werribee Park, Melbourne
Sunday 13th November – Parramatta Park, Sydney
Saturday 19th November – Botanical Gardens, Brisbane

Sorry, WHAT? The Little Dum Dum Club are playing Harvest?

  • neuroticwill on the 13th Oct, 2011

I would love to see this same lineup/ artistic installations spread over 2 or 3 days. Theatre, comedy and spoken word are the kind of things I would check out at a multi-day festival. With the amount of quality on this lineup, I can't see myself having any time for anything but the main stages.

  • mondo22 on the 13th Oct, 2011

i really hope that the 2 main stages are next to each other and operate at alternating times. i also cant see myself getting over to the smaller stages with the quality of the lineup but as long as i see the family stone, mogwai, flips and portishead. then anything else would be a bonus

  • Jestarrr on the 13th Oct, 2011

First harvest seemed to be quality over quantity, but now its the best of both. Like the others though, can't see myself doing anything other the music.

  • themhumm on the 13th Oct, 2011

Sorry I know Harvest is a civilised gathering... But! FUCK YES!!!

  • snapcrackleROCK on the 13th Oct, 2011

Emilie Autumn - I've wanted to see her ever since I discovered her. Which was a week after her last tour!

  • brownie-ll on the 14th Oct, 2011

    Clang.

  • Scooter mcgavin on the 14th Oct, 2011

and they still have the replacement International + the Uneartherd acts to come!!!

  • Piko on the 16th Oct, 2011

Replacement International... geeee.. Florence would sell the rest of the tickets if announced. But won't happen. and to be honest, it will bring in a lot of kiddies which otherwise will not be attending.

  • grattan on the 16th Oct, 2011

Unlikely that there'll be a replacement for Foxy - AJ was asked on Friday "no more main stage acts for harvest?" and replied "Nope. We're all done." Obviously an AJ tweet isn't 100%, but I can't see Harvest getting any bigger.

  • Jose Cuervo on the 27th Oct, 2011

Hey gratts, do you know when they are pulling out set times for this?

  • grattan on the 27th Oct, 2011

No idea. It had best be soon. I gots to schedule my day.

  • humanracin on the 27th Oct, 2011

praying there is no portishead/mogwai/tvontheradio clashes...

  • MorningAfterboy on the 27th Oct, 2011

Doubt there will be. There's only two stages, from my understanding.

  • Braveheart81 on the 27th Oct, 2011

The only sideshow I am seeing is TV on the Radio, so that's the only place where I can handle a clash. Invariably, the bands I want to see most (in order) would be: Portishead, Bright Eyes, Holy Fuck, Flaming Lips, The National, Mogwai, The Walkmen, TV on the Radio, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, PVT, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Seekae, Dappled Cities. The first three because I've never seen them before.

  • MorningAfterboy on the 28th Oct, 2011

I'm doing Bright Eyes and TVOTR. Going to be a mental week. Beyond excited for The National.

  • CoolRusty on the 28th Oct, 2011

If there is no clash, I'd love to see Holy Fuck again. They were immense at Laneway this year.

  • Jose Cuervo on the 28th Oct, 2011

As long as i get portishead and flips at both shows im going to im happy

  • Piko on the 28th Oct, 2011

I told Jose to listen to Mercury Rev - Deserter's Songs to prep for his Harvest tour and he scoffed? Please view a small list of Album of the Year winners. They are in good company 1995 - Maxinquaye - Tricky 1996 - If You're Feeling Sinister - Belle & Sebastian 1997 - Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space - Spiritualized 1998 - Deserter's Songs - Mercury Rev 1999 - The Soft Bulletin - The Flaming Lips 2000 - Rated R - Queens of the Stone Age 2001 - Is This It - The Strokes Shame though, it is NME that chose these albums

  • grattan on the 28th Oct, 2011

    Fuck that's a quality list.

  • Piko on the 28th Oct, 2011

Seems to be the glory days of NME editing. If there is such a thing.

  • Napoleon Solo on the 28th Oct, 2011

I now like Deserter's Songs a little bit less, NME EABOSD...

  • mondo22 on the 28th Oct, 2011

just need to see in order of preference, Flips, The Family Stone and Mogwai. the others shall all be cream on top

  • mondo22 on the 28th Oct, 2011

still coming up to Brisbane then yeah?

  • ThatDude123 on the 29th Oct, 2011

Yeah we're doing brisvegas. And wasn't there just meant to be just the one stage for the musical acts, so practically no clashes? So unless you want to see The Family Stone twice, everyone will see everything and everybody will be happy.

  • Jose Cuervo on the 29th Oct, 2011

Yeah i get there at like 10pm on Friday then leave at like 6 on Sunday

  • Piko on the 29th Oct, 2011

eat a big old soggy dump?

  • MorningAfterboy on the 29th Oct, 2011

Eats a bag of sweaty dicks, I believe.

  • Piko on the 29th Oct, 2011

    indeed, all class either way

  • ThatDude123 on the 29th Oct, 2011

We're a classy, verbose bunch, us FLers

  • Piko on the 29th Oct, 2011

Speaking of class, It seems all my casual part time posting has lead me to 62 likes! I will normally sit on the same number for a few weeks. This slow progress will become somewhat amusing in 7 likes time.

  • humanracin on the 29th Oct, 2011

Hmm, I thought there were 2 main stages (hopefully alternating), a big top and a cabaret tent?

  • Piko on the 29th Oct, 2011

Yer from what i know it is 2 main stages alternating side by side as you describe with the a funk/world music stage and the cabaret/burlesque stage. Something like that

  • The Great Monkey War on the 29th Oct, 2011

My order of giving a fuck: The National, Holy Fuck, TV on the Radio, Mogwai, Clap Your Hands, Portishead, Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, The Walkmen, Dappled Cities, PVT, Seekae.

  • grattan on the 29th Oct, 2011

From AJ's Twitter: Portishead will be playing unopposed!

  • mondo22 on the 29th Oct, 2011

there's a funk stage? well this certainly changes things

  • Piko on the 29th Oct, 2011

Whatever you would call a stage featuring the family stone, hypnotic brass ensemble, kormacs big band, trojan sound system etc

  • bjw1 on the 30th Oct, 2011

someone asked AJ if Foxy Shazam were going to be replaced by an international act, his response was this: "It's too late to get an international. It'll be someone local or longer sets" LONGER SETS PLEASE!

  • mondo22 on the 30th Oct, 2011

i see, i thought they were having a whole heap of unknown funk bands playing. from memory though, I believe it has been said that family stone will be doing a set on the mainstage.

  • mondo22 on the 30th Oct, 2011

i had a dream last night that the flaming lips didn't bring their full show for harvest. it wasn't a very happy dream at all.

  • Piko on the 30th Oct, 2011

I think you will be safe Mondo, from what I can tell, Wayne Coyne never does anything in halves

  • Jaaaaaccckk on the 30th Oct, 2011

    Especially not tabs of acid.

  • bjw1 on the 30th Oct, 2011

Congratulations to Harvest Unearthed Winners THE CACTUS CHANNEL - WINNER - VICTORIA ELIZABETH ROSE - WINNER - NSW GUNG HO - WINNER - QLD

  • Piko on the 30th Oct, 2011

i see, i thought they were having a whole heap of unknown funk bands playing. from memory though, I believe it has been said that family stone will be doing a set on the mainstage. Seems the "Secret Garden" as they are calling it is mostly DJ's and some reggae etc. Family Stone are going to do a set there after their main stage performance.

  • ThatDude123 on the 30th Oct, 2011

Came in to say this. Looks like it's a headline Family stone set (meaning they play twice), Loads of DJs and some spoken word artists. They also have Le Boudoir, which is your cabaret stuff and Bootleg Alley, which with it's 1920's style bar and "secret sideshows" sounds the most interesting of the lot. Seeing as that's the "sidestages", all signs point to two alternating stages for every other band tbh. Which, if Portishead gets a full set and they go off poster order, means the Flaming Lips are playing in sunlight in Sydney and Melbourne, which is possibly worse than a half-set.

  • tyler07 on the 30th Oct, 2011

Surely AJ wouldn't be stupid enough to put The Flaming Lips on at night... Surely not...

  • bjw1 on the 30th Oct, 2011

... do you mean during the day?

  • bjw1 on the 30th Oct, 2011

with all the acts now confirmed for harvest, the set times cant be far off? i'm going to turn into Cr1zZ and predict that they'll be released tomorrow.

  • tyler07 on the 30th Oct, 2011

Yeah... It seems that I surely am that stupid to type the wrong thing...

  • Braveheart81 on the 30th Oct, 2011

  • bjw1 on the 1st Nov, 2011

i wonder what the secret sideshow stage is all about? will there be any notice on whos playing there throughout the day or will you just show up and hope you get an act you like?

  • ThatDude123 on the 1st Nov, 2011

    RADIOHEAD SECRET SET ...surely

  • Jose Cuervo on the 1st Nov, 2011

Hopefully they only play king of limbs

  • bjw1 on the 2nd Nov, 2011

from twitter (18 hours ago). "@iamnotshouting: We just finished the meeting regarding maps and timetables [for harvest] (7 fucking hours later). They will be released as soon as the art people have made them presentable!" yay, not long now!

  • Jose Cuervo on the 2nd Nov, 2011

So they will be released on the 20th then?

  • humanracin on the 2nd Nov, 2011

timetables cancelled due to printers pulling out

  • ThatDude123 on the 2nd Nov, 2011

AJ calls printers "cunts" who "no one should ever work with ever again", resorts to pen-and-paper

  • Jose Cuervo on the 2nd Nov, 2011

Claims to replace printer with a bigger and better printer.....fails to replace with anything

  • Braveheart81 on the 2nd Nov, 2011

Runs into problems when he tries to get a LazerJet to print before a Dot Matrix and expect the LazerJet not to be pissed.

  • ThatDude123 on the 2nd Nov, 2011

Printers fail at the last minute, AJ declares it's too late to find a suitable printing replacement, gives everyone paper and crayons instead

  • berlinchair101 on the 2nd Nov, 2011

Cancels printing completely. Denies a lack of toner being the reason.

  • jhf92 on the 2nd Nov, 2011

Fuck timetables, AJ has bigger fish to fry. He's currently parading his knowledge on asylum seekers and giving some very formidable arguments, such as the 'if you love him so much, why don't you marry him?' equivalent in this debate... 'Would you take those guys into your home and take responsibility for them?'.

  • lineofbestfit on the 3rd Nov, 2011

aj watches flaming moes, gets aerosmith to replace flaming lips.

  • mondo22 on the 3rd Nov, 2011

Printer asks for more paper then gets thrown out altogether for being a pretentious cunt with too many high demands.

  • Fake Plastic Android on the 3rd Nov, 2011

Whilst these jokes have been amusing I would rather some timetables.

  • crob on the 3rd Nov, 2011

timetables frogwithpipe @ @iamnotshouting i'm guessing problems with timetables? AJ iamnotshouting AJ @frogwithpipe That's all I have with timetables. Doing them is THE WORST. 10 hours ago frogwithpipe@ @iamnotshouting haha i could imagine. what would be worse is if portishead clashed with mogwai though, just saying. good luck man 10 hours ago AJ @iamnotshouting AJ @frogwithpipe Portishead play unopposed

  • humanracin on the 3rd Nov, 2011

so everything else finishes before Portishead starts? I'm not sure if this is good or bad as that means EVERYONE will be at Portishead!

  • oldgregg on the 3rd Nov, 2011

some people mightn't care for portishead?

  • Fake Plastic Android on the 3rd Nov, 2011

    Yeah........... Fuckwits.

  • oldgregg on the 3rd Nov, 2011

    aha fair call.

  • grattan on the 3rd Nov, 2011

There better be a big red tractor on stage.

  • Fake Plastic Android on the 3rd Nov, 2011

Flaming Lips play Windmill stage at 7.30pm (SMH)

  • Braveheart81 on the 3rd Nov, 2011

Flaming Lips/The National/Holy Fuck all overlapping. Fuck!

  • crob on the 4th Nov, 2011

    Fuck!

  • mondo22 on the 4th Nov, 2011

Shiiiiiittttt. If the Brisbane timetable is looking similar, I guess I won't be seeing the National or Holy Fuck yet again! :(

  • Scooter mcgavin on the 4th Nov, 2011

wait how do we know the national are clashing with the flaming lips? I hope not, maybe Melbourne will be different

  • berlinchair101 on the 4th Nov, 2011

A soundwave touring festival that's full of clashes!!! OH EM GEE

  • Scooter mcgavin on the 4th Nov, 2011

oh its in the other article dw, that is shit, its not just a small overlap either its the national or the flaming lips :( cmon Melbourne

  • 0o_o0 on the 4th Nov, 2011

meh i'm more dirty on holy fuck clashing with flips, the two best live bands at the festival.

  • lineofbestfit on the 4th Nov, 2011

    what time are mogwai playing?

  • Piko on the 4th Nov, 2011

Is the Windmill stage a Sydney stage? I think its another location. Edit: Yer I just read the SMH article. I was hoping the 2 main stages were side by side...

  • The Great Monkey War on the 4th Nov, 2011

Flaming Lips/The National/Holy Fuck all overlapping. Fuck! I CAN'T DEAL.
